Not only is Surfing Ours is hard, getting out there can be punishing too. The best thing about this clip of my mate Jeddy is that this exact thing has happened to me before and ive seen it happen to so many other people as well. Ive just been hanging out for the day when someone caught it on film! It’s Sammy “cheese” Mcintosh getting pitted too.

Piker’s Hole!

Ours, solander, cape fear, the cape. So many names for one spot. So which one should be used? I just found a shot on face book. Its from the 70′s and there is no doubt where it is. Back then they named it Piker’s Hole. I kinda like it. The old photo is inside. Here’s Darryl Menzies view of Pikers hole. The best angle i’ve seen in a long time. This was around 11 am on saturday. The wind died of and it was pretty much as good as ours gets.
Poor old middles didn’t even get a look in. It was doing its best to coax us over though.

Ours Again

I know you might be getting sick of seeing shots of ours. But im definitely not getting sick of surfing it! As usual there were more cameras than surfers so there will be plenty of shots and footage to come. Here’s a few of my favourite shots ive seen so far.

On Richie’s first wave this morning he got a mutant 10footer he got smashed and blew his knee out. He managed to get one more and this was it. He rode the foam ball out into the channel after the wave blew its guts out. Photo: Dukalua Photography

I got so flogged on the wave before this one. i was going to go in i was so rattled. But i grabbed the rope for one more and ended up here. I was so scared at this point thinking i was going to get sucked up into the lip again. Luckily i managed to hold on. Photo: Mark Halliday

id pay $280 a night and tear my back up on the reef again tmrw to get to have this session all over again!

you could tell dingo had spent some time out here while the CT’s had been on. He new exactly which one to pick to be able to stay in the barrel the whole way down the reef.

I surfed for 4 hours looking like an idiot with this helmet mounted 3d camera on. When I came in i went to watch the footage and realised there was no SD cards in the camera’s. Awsome….

$280 is a bargin when this is the view from your deck chair.

When richie took of on this bomb he was so late and deep that we we all just turned round expecting him to come straight up bleeding. But he didn’t show up till the very end of the reef and he had the biggest grin on his face. We new why when we saw the footage that night. It was by far the best barrel of the trip!

hippo on the biggest set of the day. The take of on this was so crazy. big six foot air drop with only an inch of water on the reef.

I started getting cocky towards the end of the surf. I got put back in my place quick smart. I fell on the take off snapped my board and got dragged across the live coral. on the first roll i hit my arm. And for a second i was thinking “that wasnt so bad” then i got rolled again straight on my back and tail bone and the reef proceeded to tear me a new arse hole. I came up grimacing in pain as dingo took of on the wave behind getting a 12 sec barrel in front of me just to rub it in.

Ive been working with the crew at Sportscamera.com.au to make a new Go Pro board mount. The first attempt with it i got 2 crazy pits at ours then on my third wave i got absolutely smashed! The camera mount handled but my leggy string napped and i had to watch as my board and camera got smashed into the rocks. It was jammed in a cave for about an hour before i could get to. I scrambled into the cave in between sets got my board out only to realise that the camera had snapped off!

For my second attempt i decided to stick a nice safe beachie. While the waves were shitty i was still able to get an idea of how good the angle the angle looks. It still needs a few tweaks to be ready for ours and shippy’s but the team at Sportscamera are definitely on to some thing!

Ps. ill give anyone who finds my camera at our’s $300!
